What a Room Remembers: Metta Comes to Petersburg

Updated: Sep 25

Before it was our showroom, it was just this — a blank wall, a single window, and a story waiting to be told.
Before it was our showroom, it was just this — a blank wall, a single window, and a story waiting to be told.

Some buildings begin as afterthoughts. This one was almost forgotten—bricked up with only a single window and a front door, hidden in plain sight. And yet, there was something about it that whispered possibility.

Now, it’s the home of Metta Home’s first-ever showroom.

When I imagined the future of Metta, I knew I wanted a place that wasn’t just beautiful, but useful. Not a gallery, but a working studio—somewhere we could meet, dream, design, and offer tangible things that help people live in the Metta.

We’re still completing the transformation, but we’ve already begun working from this space. And as of this summer, we’ve opened the doors to you.

We’ve opened the doors — not just to a showroom, but to the way we live, work, and welcome you into the Metta.

A Showroom That Remembers What Matters

True to our philosophy, the showroom is an evolving mix of what we already had, what’s well loved, and what’s brand new. You’ll find:

  • Vintage finds + repurposed furniture

  • Our private-label Metta Home upholstery line with 200 in-stock fabrics and access to thousands more

  • Dining tables, chairs, pillows, and rugs ready to take home or order

  • Wallpaper books from Painted Paper, Mind the Gap, Harlequin & many more

  • Self-care goods like incense, gua sha tools, soaps, candles — the quiet rituals that support living well

  • Coffee table books and decorative accessories that bring energy and joy

  • Art by local Petersburg artists curated for our showroom walls - currently showing Dolly Holmes & Mark Pehanich.

There’s a rhythm to the space that feels good—sunlight streams in now, thanks to newly added windows. We even used salvaged brick to build a raised bed outside, where a bit of green now softens the street view and welcomes you in.

This is just the beginning. Eventually, you’ll see our branded cabinetry line installed here, too—alongside even more pieces that reflect our commitment to beauty, function, and ease.

📍Why Petersburg?

While 90% of our client work remains in Richmond, we’ve recently begun several commercial and historic residential projects in Petersburg. This city has soul. The architecture, the energy, the people — all of it makes us feel at home.

And in the fall, Metta is heading to Manteo, in the Outer Banks, as we expand to design thoughtful homes and spaces in yet another beautiful, history-rich place.

🍷 Join Us: Sip & See at the Showroom

We’re opening the doors for a special Sip & See event at the showroom next week. Come experience the space, explore the furnishings, and meet the team. Whether you're furnishing a home, renovating a room, or just curious — we’d love to see you.

🗓 July 24th, 2025📍116 South Sycamore Street, Petersburg VA 23803 📫 Follow @metta.home for updates.

This Room Remembers...

It remembers what was, even as it becomes something new. This room—this building—has gone from hidden to hopeful, and we’re proud to share it with you.

Come live in the Metta.
