Inside Voices: A New Series by Metta Home

ree

Every home has its stories. What a Room Remembers will always be our love letter to those stories — the before and after, the layered histories, the textures that carry meaning. But there’s another kind of story we’ve been wanting to tell — the one that happens behind the scenes. The whispered one. The one only the insiders hear.

Welcome to Inside Voices. This new series is a look behind the curtain at what it really takes to bring a space to life — from the earliest sketches with architects to the final walk-through with contractors, from furniture sourcing to finish selections, from inspiration boards to installation days that begin before sunrise and end when the light hits just right.

Here, we’ll talk about the heartbeat of design — the collaboration, the compromises, the conversations. We’ll unpack the dance between beauty and function, design and construction, imagination and implementation. We’ll explore things like: How to work with your architect, contractor, and designer as a true team What to expect (and what to ask) during a renovation Why good design is a form of self-kindness — an act of Metta and yes, the mess and magic that make it all worth it

This series isn’t just for fellow designers or tradespeople — it’s for anyone who’s ever looked around their home and wondered what it might become with the right guidance. So, while What a Room Remembers continues to honor the soulful transformation of each finished project, Inside Voices will honor the process — the unseen architecture of collaboration, patience, and intention that makes those transformations possible.

Pull up a chair, pour a coffee (or a glass of something stronger), and let’s get candid about design — from the inside out.
